Voilà la raison pour laquelle le "record" de Mungeshpur ne vaut pas tripette.
Le NOAA met à la disposition publique des rapports météo annuels qui remontent au milieu du 19e siècle. Ils montrent que la "nouvelle norme" pour la péninsule indienne était déjà en vigueur dans les années 1930.

During May, rainfall was deficient over north-west India excepting Kashmir and the north-west frontier desipe the passage of eight western disturbances, probably because their track was somewhat more ntorherly than usual.
There was a spelll of high day temperatures in the east and north Punjab, the United Provinces, the central parts of the country and Hyderabad between the 25th and 28th of May. It is reported that during this spell some deeaths due to heat strokes occurend in Delhi and Nagpur.

CALCUTTA, Saturday.— India is
experiencing an unprecedented heat
wave, particularly in the Madras Pre-
sidency, where 120 deg. have been
registered.
Many deaths have occurred from
heatstroke. The roads are strewn
with the bodies of animals and birds
killed by the fierce heat.
Deaths have also occurred at Aliganj,
in Rohilkand, where 150,000 pilgrims
have assembled for an annual fair at
the Temple of Mahabir. In spite of
the heat, thousands of pilgrims are
crawling on all fours on the journey
to the temple as penance and prayers
for future favors.
