Have reinstalled mactex, changed /usr/local/texlive/2021/texmf-config/dvipdfmx/dvipdfmx.cfg with -dNOSAFER ...: now works like a charm; wrote to Herbert on pstricks mailing list.
There is really a problem with the updated pstricks package.
