Reboots: The Undead Can Dance by Mercedes Lackey & Cody Martin.
     There was the Zombie War and the Fae, Vampires, and Werewolves
came out on the human side and turned the tide.   Then the humans
turned against the fae, vampires and werewolves.   But Deep Space
travel came on line and the Vampires,
Werewolves and Reboots(aka Zombies) were pressed into service as
crews with assigned roles. Fur is food supply for the Fangs which
are the main crew and quite insulting to Fur,
Reboots do simple things to keep the deep space craft running.
On the one ship a couple of Reboots are still conscious and
help the Fur, both Fur and Fangs regenerate quickly but
the Reboots are wary of losing body parts.  But despite his
engineering training the Fur has forgotten to disable the emergency beacon.
     Great story with Boggart, and Wendigo as well as traitorous
Fangs.   The Boggart is a P.I. and named Humphrey Boggart, and
the Wendigo is a near unkillable, human eating monster.
Oh but he will try for a boggart.
Well the turn of the ancient year is coming up as usual
on October 31st when the wall between the other realms and
our daily world become thin. So this is suitable for the
season
Boo!
