maybe you can explain it to me. Why don't people just say BMW? It's
not like that's a long acronym.
FWIW, I always have to go look up this trivia, as I've never become invested enough in BMW to care enough to remember:
Bimmer is the slang for BMW's automobiles;
Beemer is the slang for BMW's motorcycles.
It's likely mostly Americans who can't pronounce it properly. They have enough trouble with proper English, let alone any other language. :-pI may have mentioned this once. My mother who is German made sure ISimilarly, that Porsche is two syllables, not one.
knew how to pronounce Audi correctly. She hated when people pronounced
it "au-di" and said it's pronounced "ow-di".
