I've always been interested in an entry level older BMW.I once owned a 525i on which I had to replace almost everything because BMW
only knows how to make drive trains - BMW has no idea how systems work
together.
An example is the DISA valve is an abomination, as is the CCV and even the
ABS control module has those angel hairs which break in the goop they're
intertwined with.
The seat cables cause seat twist. Even something as simple as the
cupholders break. The Dorman window regulators have too small of a nylon
roller so the cable falls off. And don't even get me started on the Behr
plastic overly complex expansion tanks.
The water pump fails prematurely (and requires two special tools, including
a very thin very long 32mm open-end wrench to access), while the trunk loom
constantly frays causing shorts all over the place due to bare wires
touching.
Everyone had the BMW software (much of which was in German) including but
not limited to dis, easydis, gt1, progman, inpa, and ncs dummies & expert.
Much as I've studied the strange nature of you Apple trolls, I've always
wondered why BMW engineers can't make two systems work together other than
the drive train and suspension. Those do work fantastically together.
Nothing else does though... (at least not on the 525i which is the only
bimmer that I know about - but don't get me started on the beemers).
