Stallman single-handedly created GNU and Torvalds likewise
created Linux.
They started it, yes.
Both were later joined by multitudes of other highly talented people
Exactly.
but that does not nullify the fact that GNU and Linux were the
successful endeavors of single men.
They created a great basis for what is available now. Their contribution
were huge (for Linus, it's still is). But it's not isolated people.
