Why does GuhNoo/FOSS attract so many liars and delusional oddballs?

In my opinion, it's because Windows and Mac are so big that you have to
give up some things to migrate, which most people don't want to do. The
only people who willingly switch are nerds, or generally "odd".

True, it's the apps that sell the OS, people want M$ Office and
Photoshop. We're nerds who can handle Linux, because we tinker in a
way they aren't inclined to do.

Yeah exactly.
I'm not one of those people who ever wanted M$ Office. I always hated it,
especially the way it tried to "think" for you. As for Photoshop... it
appears to have been priced out of range for most normal users these days.
$276 a year for a niche product. No thank you. GIMP works well for me when I
(rarely) need to do something with a photo.
So, zero reason to keep using Windows bloatware or put up with its nerdy
Registry, or its terrible upgrade experience — not to mention its intrusive
"call home" crap and (now) more and more ads. And there is its lack of
support for perfectly good computers. And it looks like it's going the way
of Adobe, where you'll have to rent this crapware OS instead of owning it.
Talk about adding insult to injury.
