While the civilized, "good" Western world largely has to decide whether
to pay their rent or eat every month, food is still very much affordable
in "evil" Russia.
It probably has changed but my wife visited the USSR in the '70s. When I
picked her up at the airport her first words were 'Take me to McDonalds.'
She didn't lose any weight on the trip but I think she'd seen one too many
piroshki.
She did mention the pivo trucks came around for curbside service like US
food trucks. That sounded like an excellent idea to me.
