I'm quite comfortable using the superior product to do the job.

Obviously you don’t consider it quite so “superior” if you have to
pay the regular price for it.

I bought my Windows 10 Pro license at the full cost a few years ago.
I'm just trying to be nice to people here by sharing a deal with them
in the event that they might desire it. If they don't, that's fine
too.
What's also fine is you acting like a dick because you believe that
everything is an offense to Linux, in some way.
>
I've gone through hundreds of Linux installations since 1994 or so
when I first tried a distribution from diskettes. At no time was
Linux better than any version of Windows other than the 9x line. I'm
sure this statement will cause you to cut yourself, but it's still
the truth.

Your opinion. My opinion is that every version of Linux I've used in
the last 15 years is superior to every version of Windows I've tried
in that time frame.

Linux runs faster, installs faster, upgrades incredibly faster, is not
prone to nuisance ads or other idiot interruptions, doesn't call home

and the file system just makes more sense. And Linux doesn't have a
Registry file.

Use what you like, but don't confuse your opinion with facts. What's
"superior" to you is definitely NOT superior to me. It's the opposite
in my opinion, Windows is inferior.

If I was interested in video games or PhotoShop or could stand
Microsoft Office, maybe my opinion would be different. Although
upgrading Windows would still be one of the worst experiences you can
have using a computer.

There is no doubt that upgrades are faster with Linux, but upgrades
from one stable version of a distribution to another is not usually
seamless. The efforts Linux Mint's developer has made to ensure that
tching from one big release to another is commendable because there are
way too many stories of disaster online to count. Windows generally
upgrades well, from something like 10 to 11, in my experience.

The only time I upgraded one of my Linux Mint machines (from 18 to 19, I
believe) it went smoothly, but I personally would rather back up my data
and do a clean install. I like "starting over again." A lot of Windows
users seem to do that as well — as I've seen a lot of issues with
upgrading Windows from one version to another. (But I know less and less
about Windows every day, and that's by choice — so maybe this has
changed with newer versions.)

I recall doing a Linux Mint upgrade on my dad's laptop a while back and
following the instructions. After the upgrade, it still worked and allowed
him to log in, but everything was a mess. I didn't even know where to
start to fix it.
