I am offended by your use of the term "liberal" to describe them. These
people are proponents of a nanny state where censorship is at the core

government. Nothing about them is liberal.

You are swimming upstream against a very strong current. In the US
'liberal' is associated with the welfare state going back to FDR, rather
than the European association.

Nothing surprising there;'fanny' has different connotations on both sides
of the Atlantic. That stole the punchline of 'Fanny Hill' although the UK
usage of 'fanny' may have come later, possibly derived from the novel.

'Progressive', 'conservative', 'fascist', 'socialist', and 'communist' are
also abused, even by those who identify with them. For example Bernie
Sanders calls himself a democratic socialist while he is a social
democrat.
