Weird. I thought [ and test were implemented as shell builtins..

And /usr/bin/X11/X11/... is just a soft link to ".".

If I had to guess, I'd say that would be a compatibility feature, like
/bin -> /usr/bin. Though on my computer its /usr/bin/X11 that's linked
back to the bin folder.

So Doof is taking advantage of a quirk in the file system to "denounce"
a "GUI".
