But you're blaming "Linux" for a failure in _Lutris_.
 
That's like blaming Windows for a failure in _Photoshop_.

I also mentioned that before even installing the distribution, the
latest ISO available on the web site, it:
 
1) told me that it was no longer supported before even getting into the
test environment.
2) didn't detect my keyboard change in the installation process,
behaving like a US keyboard despite the fact that it was set to Canadian
French 3) required an update the moment it was installed requiring a
restart, then refused to boot into the desktop 4) after rescue and
NVIDIA installation using their instructions, again refused to boot into
the system requiring a rescue 5) wouldn't play the video part of a video
file using VLC whether it be the proper package or the Flatpak unless
the NVIDIA drivers were uninstalled. With them installed, only Dragon
Player worked alright 6) asked me to install an update right after it
had already installed updates 7) asked me to use a GPG key for keychain
encryption then disregarded the fact that it had been installed using
the GPG command in the terminal
 
That is all on day _one_ and before even bothering with Lutris. Which
part of that list suggests that Linux works well?

I don't know about Linux, but it's for danged sure the distro
doesn't work well.  Sorry you had so much trouble with it.

Was the second update perhaps pulling in codecs from rpmfusion?
Fedora itself doesn't have any real codecs to speak of for starters.
But Nobara is supposed to use the extra codecs, which I assume
come from the rpmfusion repository.  That could explain why vlc
didn't play your video.  Another explanation could be failure to
connect properly with the NVIDIA driver.

I told my friend who reviewed Fedora 40 recently about Nobara,
and I'm going to forward your message to him for ideas about
what to test.  I might try it out myself just to see how bad off
it is.  But if I do try it, I'm not going to bother with Wayland,
since X11 is more of a known entity to me.

I also don't use Lutris -- I use Steam.
