Yup. Fun fact: the 1930 Census added the category of "Mexican". Prior to that, they were classified as either "White", "Indian", or "Other".
"Mexican" disappeared for the 1940, 50 & 60 Censuses; 1970 had "Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central/South America, Other Spanish" category:
