I saw Braveheart in the theater on opening weekend, and when King Richard shoved a gayboy (his gay son's lover) out a high window to his death, most of the audience - including me - laughed out loud.
The queer "community" was outraged that everyone laughed at that scene. But I didn't laugh because he was gay - it happened so fast and he screamed on the way down... you have to see it to understand.
Gibson's a masterful movie director who loves bloodletting on screen. Apocalypto is one of his best.
