I managed to convince another of my clients to go whole hog

I don't believe that.
They were a bit reluctant at first. The main concern was
the possible retraining of their idiot staff.

So they did, and now they are very glad. Their staff actually
enjoys using Linux. They state that it is far more natural,
and colorful, than that crap Microslop. They are having fun
while being far more productive as well.
And that's the proof of your lie. Because you couldn't have installed
a user friendly DE/WM and you couldn't have installed something easy to
manage for a beginner. So they would have to rely on you for everything.
And one can't be happy to have to ask for help a lot of time each day.
Take it from the expert.
You are an expert in nothing. Even your lies are bad and easy to spot.
All that these reluctant bozos need is a gentle push and
then there will be no going back.
With a friendly configured Linux, yes a beginner can start using Linux
effortlessly. But your way of making every simple task cumbersome can't
help a beginner. And a Linux expert doesn't need a push, he already know
if he can switch to Linux or not.
