their exact software they currently run to work
Yes. Many users don't care - or, in a quite large proportion, even
_know_ - what the underlying OS is. (And it _can_ be argued that that's
OK; _I_ don't know what OS my TV, set-top-boxes, printer, etc. are, and
probably wouldn't be concerned ditto if buying a new washing machine.)

That's two different things. I now could afford, more so than in the
past; however, in the past I would have been willing to do more on the
