Ed Bott sums up his predictions about the forthcoming “Windows 12”

Among them:
* Microsoft is going to bring back some of the failed ideas with
Windows RT and Windows 10S and Windows 10X. If at first you don’t
succeed in getting enraged users to accept your enshittified OS, try
and try again.
* Your old apps might not work. But what else is new? That happens
with every Dimdows release. Why do you think users are often so
reluctant to upgrade?
* You’ll need a paid subscription for “advanced” features. Who decides
what is “advanced”? Why, Microsoft’s wonderfully perceptive,
totally-in-touch-with-hoi-polloi marketing department, of course.
Microsoft’s response to users’ complaints about its enshittification
takes after that old Nina & Frederik song: “When users say no, they
mean yes”.
I already expected it to get worse since they released Windows 8.1 after
Windows 8.0 flop. Windows 8.1 is more like flat rather than flip. Then it
just a series of flops after that.
