Corruption is how things get done. To eliminate corruption government
sets up a bunch of rules, audits, checks, etc. This is supposed to

anything at all.

The operative term is “checks and balances”. Regulatory authorities are
supposed to be free from political interference. Other countries look
at the “revolving door” in the US where the same people are working for
a regulatory authority one moment, and as a lobbyist on behalf of the
very companies being regulated another moment, and wonder why you let
them get away with it.

Yes, in your eyes everything about the US is wrong.

Typical passive-aggressive response. Again, your implicit assumption is
that the USA is better at everything than anybody else, so if it is doing
something badly, there’s no way anybody else could be doing it better.

Look at things like global indexes of corruption, democratic institutions,
press freedom and the like, and learn how other countries do in fact do
some things better. Why pretend you can’t learn from them?
