Wayland only?  Or Wayland just by default?  I can imagine that X11 won't
be part of the base install, but are they removing it completely?
 
I'm sticking with X11 until it is no longer viable.

It depends on how much pain Ubuntu will go through to support X11 if GNOME
strips it completely. The last sentence in the article sums it up. We've
tried the carrot and people are hanging onto a system drifting into
irrelevancy. Break out the big stick.
