Aluminium is commonly used for the 13KVAC power distribution and for 220VAC
power drop wires. But, yes never in data cables. Most commercial cables are
not soldered -- crimped or IDC or some combination.

No. It isn't. I cannot recall ANY commercial cables that are *soldered*.
Nor any that would be so stupid as to use aluminium
It's tinplated copper and its crimped or IDC.
