Actually, you COULD do 'decimal calendars'. Take
a standard day, divide into 10 hours, months into
10 days. By setting your reference to base-365.25
it CAN work out pretty well.
But yea, the universe rarely cooperates with 'logical'
systems humans might try to devise. Remember the old
Greeks and their obsession with 'perfect' circular
motion in the cosmos ? The cosmos was supposed to
be 'divine', and therefore only 'perfect' geometry
would be seen.
