MEDIA: Santa Clara's Suit Over Birthright Order Faces Pause Amid Appeal

| Santa Clara County, home to Silicon Valley and 750,000 foreign-born
| residents, sued President Donald Trump on Jan. 30, ten days after he
| issued the executive order that would deny citizenship to children
| of foreign residents who are unauthorized or on temporary legal
| status.

| The complaint said the county would lose substantial revenue for its
| health systems because newborns who are determined noncitizens under
| the order would no longer be covered by the state's federally funded
| Medicaid program. At least 60% of children in Santa Clara have at
| least one foreign born parent, and the Bay Area county attracts
| foreign tech workers on H-1B specialty occupation visas.
