A banking app started misbehaving and I thought it got corrupted. So I
figured I would delete it and reload a new copy from the App Store. To my

Depending on why it was removed from the App Store, you may still be
able to re-download it from your list of past app purchases. See the

The "Not on this device" did it! It listed the BECU app and it seems
to work it first glance.
Thanks for that tip that I ws not aware before, though I still wonder
why the app did not show up at the usual app list as the other apps are.

 
Most likely explanation is that you were signed in with a different
Apple ID. In another post you mentioned being in Hungary and it is a US
banking app. It's possible that when you originally downloaded the app
you used a US Apple ID, but are now using a Hungary Apple ID. An app
made for a US company may well be regionalised and not show up in the
App Stores of other countries. The iPhone probably keeps track of apps
installed using any Apple ID so that it can check for app updates.
 
 

As I mentioned, I used the Android version of the app in the US. Than,
after moving to Hungary, I bought an iPhone Pro Max and used the official
Android-to Apple conversion app that also installed the iOS version that at
first execution asked me to refresh it from the AppStore and from then on
the app worked just fine till recently. So, I the AppleID was the same.
