The replacement for the iPhone SE has been announced and will be released next week. The iPhone 16e is also the first device to have Apple's new C1 in-house modem chip.

The C1 modem chip hasn't quite yet even been in a shipping product and already the rumours of the C2 modem chip are being "leaked". :-\
Apple has never made a best-in-class chip in its entire history, and there
is a good reason for that, which is the same reason that Pepsi doesn't make
a best in class soda or that Budweiser doesn't make a best in class beer.
Apple is a fantastically adept MARKETING company.
Nothing more.
Apple copies. And then markets the hell out of that copy.
Just like Big Tobacco. Big Soda too.
I'd love for Apple to kick Qualcomm's butt, but, it isn't going to happen.
Apple will market this C1 chip as "more efficient", because it's not
better; it's not faster; it's not cheaper; it's not more functional.
It doesn't do anything much.
But it's "*more efficient*" at not doing anything much.
That's pretty good marketing from Apple if you ask me.
They're brilliant.
PS: Riding a bicycle is more efficient than driving.
