Bluey Movie in the Works From BBC Studios & Disney,
Creator Issues Statement
---------------------------------------------------
BBC Studios and Disney have officially partnered up for the
first-ever Bluey movie, based on the popular Australian
children's animated series. After acquiring its theatrical
rights, Disney is currently targeting a 2027 release for
the movie.
The animated movie will be written and directed by series
creator Joe Brumm. It will also feature the voices of
Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack as they reprise their
respective roles as Bluey's mum and dad, Chilli and Bandit
Heeler. The film will be produced by Amber Naismith, with
Brumm, Charlie Aspinwall, Daley Pearson, and Justine Flynn
serving as executive producers. It will be overseen by
David Greenbaum, president of Disney Live Action and
20th Century Studios, and his team.
What did creator Joe Brumm say about the Bluey movie?
"I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer
format on The Sign in Series 3, so going even further with a
feature film feels like a natural extension of that," Brumm
said in a statement. "I've always thought Bluey deserved a
theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event
for the whole family to enjoy together. I'm excited to
continue to partner with Cecilia Persson, Tom Fussell and
the team at BBC Studios, and Dana Walden, Alan Bergman and
Disney to bring this new Bluey story to the big screen."
Bluey is an Australian animated preschool series that became
a global favorite among kids and even adults. It is created
and written by Brumm and produced by multi-Emmy Award-winning
Ludo Studio in association with Screen Queensland and
Screen Australia.
