I recently saw another old Edgar Wallace Mystery Theatre film
from 1963. This one, called Return To Sender, starred William Russell
as a petty criminal hired by an organised crime boss to fake
blackmail evidence against a prosecutor.

The crime boss then double crosses Russell’s character and
plans to frame him for the prosecutor’s murder. (Most films in
the EWMT franchise were about crime bosses double crossing
petty criminals. They get pretty formulaic if you binge watch
a lot of them in a row!)

Naturally, Russell’s character turns good in the end.
