Basically if you live in the UK, you have to use iPlayer,
(I know I might be splitting hairs, but .....)

"... you have to use iPlayer" .... or, if you already
subscribe to Disney+ (for all the other stuff they host),
can you also use your Disney+ for 'Doctor Who' in the
U.K.??
No. "Doctor Who" is not available on Disney+ within the UK &
Ireland. To watch the new episodes [legally] you have to
watch them on BBC1 or use the BBC iPlayer. The partnership
with Disney was for the international streaming rights.
That's weird!!
the domestic rights to it's own television shows when they have
their own [very popular] streaming service, the iPlayer. It's
the overseas distribution of their shows that the BBC need to do
deals for.
AGA would be the man for this but I'll do it anyway... minus all
the woke garbage and sexual grooming stuff:
Imagine the complaints from the British TV licence fee payers if
"Doctor Who" was only available on Disney+ in the UK... a BBC
show that you needed to pay extra for to watch! And if "Doctor
Who" was simultaneously available on the BBC iPlayer as well as
Disney+, then who would bother watching it on a service that you
needed a paid subscription to?
So it kind of makes sense...
