"no adverts" really means "no commercial adverts selling third-party

 The BBC could always go 'whole hog'and turn into something like the shopping channel and be nothing but adverts / "infomercials".   ;-)
 

If that were the case, at least people wouldn't be complaining about the
'shows'. ;-)
