Wasn't there a Film Trilogy based on Books along those lines .... the Life IS really just a Computer Program running its course!!

I've read Book 5 of the Trilogy .... and I think there was also a Book Six!!

Supposedly what we see as 'deja vu' is actually the simulation being
re-run or rewound for some reason.   :-\
