Agree about the shorter seasons. I don't think the Daleks would even
have /fit/ in this last season. The 'arc plot' already almost crowded
out the actual character drama within the 'arc stories'... though the
bits of it that shined through were brilliant. The Daleks would probably
make that problem a dozen times worse, though...
And I don't think Daleks would have fit with the 'complete reinvention'
thing RTD was presenting himself as doing. I had even initially thought
that the new season 1 would be a 'no "returning monsters"' season like
series 11, or season 16, or Big Finish's Divergent Universe arc...
(Suppose not, since Sutekh's there. ...Unless you subscribe to the
theory that this isn't the /same/ Sutekh at all, just a form created for
the god of death out of the fear/expectation of that Osiran from the
classic series :-))
I don't expect /any/ showrunner to pass up on the Daleks' marketing
potential /two seasons in a row,/ though.
