I don't expect any showrunner to pass up on the Daleks'
marketing potential /two seasons in a row,/ though.
I would be very surprised if that scenario happened...
My money is on a Dalek appearance in S2
Oh, absolutely. Though I dearly hope it's going to be more
interesting than the standard action-type story... I wonder
how whoever the writer will turn out to be would subvert that,
considering that Daleks are one of the least subvertible ideas
around...*
They should get Nick Briggs to write a Dalek script for TV!
*I'm reminded of the 'Daleks acting wrongly' genre of...
premise, I suppose. The Power of the Daleks, The Time of the
Daleks, Jubilee, Victory ``, Revolution ``. But then again,
half the point of half of these is the inevitable moment where
the story becomes a standard Dalek story, with all the action
trappings that implies... with a more interesting order of
things only restored as they're defeated, and maybe being the
way they are defeated. I'm sure they'll do something less
standard about it, this time.
Funnily enough, although we all like to see fresh Dalek stories
I do like the traditional Dalek stories where they have some
bonkers plan to take over the universe coupled with all the
associated tropes. Anything else just doesn't seem right.
S2/S15.
Don't forget S41 :-)
That's a season too far!
I'm happy to go with Season One/Two for internet chat in 2024 as
the real fans know what we're on about anyway, so it's just a
label for the Disney+ crowd... all 247 of them, if you want to
believe the data supplied by our resident statistical expert Mr
Agamemnon. :-)
More than 2,100 of those 247 people cared enough to vote on “Empire of
Death” on iMDB - and honestly, that really is only going to be 1-2% (at
MOST) of the Disney+ viewers. I know Aggie is going to say most of those
voters never watched it … but that’s almost as demented a belief as his
declarations that his beloved YouTube doom merchants are 100% right about
everything, even if they’re making it all up out of their arses.
And just to point out that in the USA, a country 7 times the size of
Britain, Greys Anatomy has just been renewed for an unbelievable 21st
season with an average of just over 5 million viewers (multi platform over
35 days - yes, overnights mean nothing anymore even to the commercially
enslaved American networks). Its overnights are just over 3 million.
If we were to upsize British ratings to an available user base the size of
the USA it would be bringing in 16 million in overnight ratings and be the
most successful scripted show in America by many millions. (The most viewed
drama in America so far this year is “Tracker” at just over 10 million
viewers, boosted by premiering immediately after this year’s Superbowl. If
USA was the size of the U.K. that would be - about 1.5 million).
