With all the discussion (by Aggy and others) about "Doctor Who" ratings, when I came across a post in the Archives about Classic Who ratings, I thought it might be worth a re-post, so .........

I think it is worth note that the series' ratings were very stable at around 7 or 8 million, until Michael Grade declared the 18-month hiatus,
and then cut the season length in half.
Also remember that Seasons 24-26 were slotted against "Coronation Street," the number one show on ITV ( a title it has held for many years now)
Season 23 was put on at a now-dead early Saturday slot, after "Roland the Rat." !
UK viewers please correct my double weekly dailies if they are inaccurate, I'm trying to figure out what day of the week those dates fall on.
Also note with interest how every time the season heads into summer, the ratings dip.

Bookling at the quoted ratings, it would seem that the fall in Ratings was ON well before Chris Chibnall and JodieDoc arrived on the scene!! And interesting to see, in Series 17, when ITV was off-the-air, how the ratings picked up.
