Maybe, I wondered if 'dimension' would be the number of phonemes, but English has 44 phonemes. Close but no cigar.
There are many different numbers for "the dimensions of natural language" depending on which of the numerous "definitions" you choose to use, but none of them that I can find come anywhere near 42.
