We just watched the pilot episode of an old 1975 UK comedy "Lucky Feller" starring David Jason as Bernard 'Shorty' Mepstead. With the exception of David Jason (who has been offered a couple of roles in Doctor Who, but ended up not playing them), the entire main cast of the pilot has appeared in the Doctor Who franchise:
- The drunken friend of Bernard's brother was played by
7th Doctor Who, Sylvester McCoy (billed as "Sylveste McCoy"
in the credits).
- Bernard's girlfriend was played by Cheryl Hall, who was
Shirna in the 1973 Doctor Who (Jon Pertwee era) four-part
story "Carnival of Monsters".
- Bernard's mother was played by Elizabeth Spriggs, who was
Tabby in three episodes of the 1987 Doctor Who (Sylvester
McCoy era) four-part story "Paradise Towers".
- Bernard's brother was played by Nicky Henson, who played
a few roles in a couple of episodes of the "Doctor Who:
The Monthly Adventures" podcast and a couple of roles in
the "Doctor Who: The Eighth Doctor Adventures" audio series.
- The Chinese restaurant waiter was played by Burt Kwouk
who was Doctor Hayashi in the "Doctor Who: The Monthly
Adventures" 2001 podcast, and was also Lin Futu in the
1982 Doctor Who (Peter Davison era) four-part story "Four
to Doomsday".
