The Whoniverse is definitely staying on the BBC iPlayer.
That's a major platform in the UK. It's what happens for the
international rights to the classic era of the show. I think,
the BBC would like to have the show in one place, as that

Britbox had the exclusive rights to the classic era of Doctor
Who in the USA, until 2025. Whilst HBO Max have the rights to
Doctor Who 2005-2023, and Disney+ [currently] have the
rights to the post 2023 episodes of the show. So if you
lived in the USA that's three different streaming platforms
you'd have to subscribe to to watch the various eras of
Doctor Who. I think the BBC would like to consolidate those
licences as the various agreements expire.

anyway... so it won't matter who the BBC sell the international
streaming rights for "Doctor Who" to!
