 That's basically what streaming has done Dave... if Netflix make
a movie or a series it's [usually] available on Netflix in all
of the territories that they operate in... the only difference
now is, you have to pay them some money every month to watch
their "content".

Technically you don't have to pay them anything (even ignoring the naughty web). Many Netflix shows / movies do get released on disc formats, and in many places you can borrow those discs from you local public library for free. In reality of course you are still paying via your taxes that are used to run the library and other city services.
