An interesting article about Doctor Who from The Spectator

Typo, or are you just seriously unimpressed by the writer?
"The horror of Doctor Who isn’t Daleks or woke politics, it’s
that these days we are asked to treat a mediocre kids’ TV show
as a major artistic achievement."

Perhaps one of the show's problems is that, like the writer of the article that you've quoted, RTD seems to view it primarily as a kids' show. If a survey was carried out, I think he might be surprised by the age profile of its viewers.
The average age of the viewers may be older, but that doesn't change the fact that it is made as a kids' show, albeit slightly older kids than say teh Sarah Jane show was. Many kids' shows are actually better and more interesting than the boring, over-sexed, and/or over-violent garbage made for supposed grown-ups, (even ignoring the infestation of "reality" TV garbage made for adults).
