I'm a little surprised that Christopher Eccleston agreed
to do it, as I had the impression that he hated his

Given what others have been watching on/in "Doctor Who" in
the last few years .... I'm guessing Christopher Eccleston
didn't have a problem with "Doctor Who" so much as with the
Director/Producer/whatever of "Doctor Who" back in 2005!!

Basically, yes. Christopher Eccleston fell out with members
of the Doctor Who production team [Phil Collinson & Julie
Gardner] during the first recording block for Series One.
His issue wasn't with "Doctor Who" per se.

Hmm!! You didn't mention the name I was thinking of!! ;-)
According to Christopher Eccleston's version of events, it
started with Phil Collinson - and his treatment of crew members
during filming - and escalated up from there... with each member
of the production team higher-up doubling down and defending
their team member's behaviour and/or responses... all the way to
the top. (RTD)
That's the one!!
Of course, RTD & Phil Collinson's version of events could well be
different...
