It's an okay, light-hearted, series, but there are so mny of
these amateur detectives "help" (i.e they solve the crimes)
Yeap. "Father Brown" and "Sister Boniface Mysteries" for
starters!!
Hmm!! Are these two shows just an effort to portray the Roman
Catholic Church as a bunch of busy-bodies?? Oh!! No!! Wait!
"Grantchester" is a CoE based Cop-show!!
Then there's: - The Madame Blanc Mysteries
Pommies moving on to France Riviera in Retirement.
Nope. The British antiques expert / seller comes to the small French
village when her husband was murdered there, and after that mystery
was solved she decided to stay. There are a few other ex-pat British
people already living there, but none are retired.
Oh!! I must have missed that Eps. I thought her Partner was still there.
She does have a new boyfriend now, but at the start she came to the French village because her husband died in a supposed car accident, that turned out to be a murder. The show is writtern by two of the actresses (Sally Lindsay who plays Jean White / Madame Blanc and Sue Vincent who plays the village car mechanic Gloria Beauchamp).

- The Marlow Murder Club
 ??
Small UK village of Marlow where a retired archaeologist, a vicar's wife, and a dog walker come together to solve murders, which grudging
approval of the police they are helping. Based on a series of
books.
Oh. Hang on, I might have seen one or two of them!
Season 2 recently started. It's not too bad.

- Queens of Mystery
 ??
A young female police detective moves back to her home town and is unofficially helped by her three aunts to solve mystery crimes.
There is also an on-going mystery surrounding her parents.
 Nope!
It's an okay, light-hearted show, if slightly strange. The usual small British village with a ton of murders. :-)
Julie Graham is one of the aunts. She's been in lots of shows, including being the big boss in Shetland for a while and one of the group of mystery solvers in "The Bletchley Circle", as well as numerous period dramas.

- The Good Ship Murder
 ??
Ex-police detective turned cruise line entertainer solves mysteries involving the ship's guests (on and off the boat) around the Mediterranean, with the help of the ship's second in command.
Police Detective turned Cruise entertainer .... Yeah!! I can see that
happening!! .... NOT!!
It was the character's dream job, so he took the chance to make a change (I think there was some sort of problem and he quit being a detective - he's definitely no longer with his wife and daughter). Every episode ends with him singing on stage in the boat's theatre room ... unfortunately the lead actor is a pretty awful "singer", even though he did (somehow!) win the second season of X Factor UK. This mystery show is really just someone's idea of an opportunity for him to get into acting in a bigger way.

- Ludwig
Seen a couple .. but missed the first Ep so don't know the
"back-story".
A police detective goes missing and his twin brother (a newspaper crossword setter) comes in to help the detective's wife find out what
happened, which he does by pretending to be his brother to go into
the police station and ends up having to solve other crimes while
looking for clues about his brother.
So in the First Ep, did "we" see what happened to the Real Detective?? I
missed it.
Nope. It starts with Ludwig being contacted by his sister-in-law asking him to come for a visit because they haven't seen Ludwig in a while, but it's a ruse to get him to come help her investigate what has happened to her husband. Even by the end of the season we don't know what happened to the detective, other than he seems to have gone into hiding without telling his family. A second season is being made.

- Professor T
 ??
Basically a bit of a knock-off of the US series "Monk". A university
crime professor with obsessive compulsive disorder helps the police
to solve crimes,
 Never seen either series.

while also trying to cope with his over-protective mother and the
'suicide' of his father that he witnessed as a child. The series has
been remade by a few European countries, the latest being the British
version starring Ben Miller (who was one of the Death in Paradise
detectives).
Wasn't he the First Detective .... or just the First I saw??
Yep, he was the first one. He got killed off, but rather stupidly did later return as a ghost. :-\
