AHHHH!! NOOOO!! What's a guy supposed to watch??
I just caught a Promo on Our ABC for the last EVER "VERA" episode!!
What's a guy supposed to do??
 Watch the repeats .... I guess!! ;-P
There are many other similar-ish shows. For example ...
Yeap! "When your on a good thing, ......"

A new one is "Ellis", although we haven't seen it yet, so can't say if it is any good or not, and it might be more harder edged than Vera.
    Ellis
DCI Ellis is the last hope for failing investigations. She
takes over tough cases across northern England, often with
resistance from local police. But her formidable demeanour
disguises deep empathy fuelled by her complicated past.

"Bergerac" is back, although like all silly 'reboots', it is no where near as good as the original. (In today's usual Politically Correct idiocy, Charlie Hungerford is now a woman, played by Zoe Wanamaker.)
I've seen Zoe in something previously (yonks ago) and liked Her/It.
She's been in all sorts of shows (comedy, drama, sci-fi, etc.) as well as movies like "Harry Potter".

Doing an IMDB search on her ....
 https://www.imdb.com/find/?q=Zoe%20Wanamaker&ref_=nv_sr_sm
brought up Five Wanamakers .... a Theatre Family, maybe!!
I only really know of Zoe and her father (Sam Wanamaker, American acotr and director), but a lot of her family are and were actors, including her mother and grandparents, although her sibilings aren't.

   Bergerac
Troubled detective Jim Bergerac is forced to confront a
troubling past case when a wealthy woman is murdered,
pushing him to overcome personal demons and reignite his
investigative prowess to navigate family tensions and law
   enforcement scrutiny.

I don't think I bothered with the previous "Bergerac" series .... given the Title, I may have thought it was a "Foreign" series and I hated reading sub-titles. ;-P
Nope. Both versions are set on the British-owned, but independent Channel Island of Jersey and are all in English, apart from an very occasional bit of French (some storylines had the characters going over to England or France, plus French tourists and baddies coming to Jersey).
In the original series' Jim Bergerac was played by John Nettles (later the first detective Barnaby in Midsomer Murders), which is when he became a "household name". The theme tune is great too. Re-watching the original show is a good way to play "spot the star" as many now famous actors appeared in it (for example, Annette Badland playing the police office secretary, who has since been in many shows including Doctor Who, Eastenders, and as the pathologist in recente seasons of Midsomer Murders).
We've only seen the first episode of the new "reboot" series, but it doesn't seem anywhere as good and has butchered both the characters and the theme tune.  :-(
