(Herland, 1915 novel written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.)
It being Mother's Day, I was reminded of a review of
_Herland_ the author of which thought it a grievous flaw in
the book that the Herlanders thought that motherhood was
important. (Sorry; no cite; I skimmed over it weeks ago.)
Which makes me wonder why some men want to be women when
women are being vigorously assured that they can't possibly
be equal to men unless they are indistinguishable from men
-- any interest in traditional female pursuits such as food,
clothing, shelter, and the propagation of the species must
be roundly denounced.
The characterization that "some men want to be women" is (IMHO) a gross mis-statement of what is going on.
