Born before the Civil War Naissa Nolan early notes a remarkable
healing ability and after sexual maturity she never ages. She had
a very happy childhood.
She loses her whole family to a plague in Paris where she buries
them erecting a shrine to the their memories.
She travels though the years finding friends and lovers along
the way and morning a lot when they die. She has a legal firm
on retainer and every 15-20 years assumes a new identity.
She travels to colonize Mars late in the 21st Century which
has had scientific break thoughs that permit a 2 month journey
to the old Red Planet. Mars has had some work done to prepare
it for colonization. Her life is settled until she learn she has a
a clone made when she submitted herself to a science research
project to discover the cause of her longevity and fast healing.
Actually it is a Utopian dream of a future where the earth
is being regenerated and extra-solor colonies are established.
For me this is a slow read due to the density. The date above
is when I started the review but I have had it for about a month.
In the meantime I finished several other books.
I went though an Anne Hillerman story in a day. But this one
in small print slows me down.
I go my copy at the SF Public Libary - Main. It is in paperback
and runs to 320 pages of small print. No idea of the price but
the Kindle edition is $7.99. Well additionally i found it was published
post-humously which is sort of sad.
