Hello to both of you and I hope you are headed towards a great Christmas
week.
  Recently I watched:
MARIA:  Angelina Jolie plays Maria Callas, the opera singer.  This movie
was quite boring.
They did all they could to besmirch Aristotle Onasis and the Kennedys.
I guess they tried to make opera seem like a good genre of
music/storytelling, but it never sparked at all.

If this has or gets a Golden Globe nomination or Oscar nomination, I'll watch it.  Otherwise I'm happy to skip it.

HAPPINESS:  I watched all of this 2021 Korean Zombie apocalypse series on
Netflix.  Sure, it had
some element of romance, but mostly it was your standard virus outbreak
series where the virus
keeps spreading because people are stupid.   In this series, made after
COVID so there are lots of
COVID references, the government locks down a bunch of people in a
neighborhood
full of high rise apartments.  There should be hundreds of people locked
in, but we only ever
see a couple dozen and nearly every one that we see is either stupi, evil,
or both.
This was generally entertaining, but like most of these types of series,
you really do get the
feeling that these people all deserve to die.

I had to double check.  There's another Korean movie (series?) I want to check out, but I think it's aliens, not zombies.  This series is 10 episodes, and the Netflix preview at least was in Korean.  If there's no English audio option I'll probably pass on that.  I was *supposed* to watch the "Infernal Affairs" trilogy the other week, but ended up changing my mind because there is no English dub, and the commentary track is also Korean only.  I got particularly annoyed at that detail.

RONNIE CHIENG LOVE TO HATE IT:  A 2024 stand-up comedy special.  This guy
was mildly funny
and certainly less annoying than he is on THE DAILY SHOW.  Lots of what
felt like racist stuff,
but I guess it is ok to bash various Asian ethnic groups if you are one?
Meanwhile, Netflix has added 3 more fireplaces in the run-up to Christmas.
They now have 8 to choose from.
