I remember that well. I think it was still in the AOL days. When they cast
Tim Ross,  somebody said there weren’t any black skinned Vulcans and this
woman who was hysterical at the Claude Reimer level started screaming
 
OF COURSE THERE ARE AFRCAN AMERICAN VULCANS AND NATIVE AMERICAN VULCANS AND
CHINESE AMERICAN VULCANS!!!

I also remember someone Zabruder'd all the Star Trek movies and shows, found
an extra waaaay in the background who was black, and then cited that as
"proof" of "black vulcans".

It wasn't the insistence on black Vulcans that was the problem. It was the
claim that they were African-American, when they're from *a whole other
planet*, for cripes sake, where there is no Africa or America.

We see this here in real life, too. I can't count the number of times I've
heard Idris Elba described as an "African-American actor". He's neither of
those things. He's British, not African nor American. It's like in the lunatic
world of DEI/PC, all black people in the world, no matter their heritage or
nationality are now African and American whether they like it or not.
