That story is dated 2017. This guy has (presumably) already graduated.
The story reminds me a bit of something that happened to me in high
school. I took some shop classes and one day, the teacher of the
machine shop class told us that he'd decided to give us a surprise
test. NOBODY was ready for it and he could see it; even the smartest
guy in our year, Mike, was unprepared. So the teacher said he was going
to give us a break: the test was out of 32 and he said that anyone who
spelled their name correctly would get 1 point. We wrote the test and we
all did dreadfully; I don't think even Mike passed it. I certainly
didn't. But we got a good laugh when one of the guys in the class wrote
only one thing on the test paper: his name. Thirty-two times! (He only
got one point for the name, not the 32 he was hoping for.)
