‘Neuromancer’: Briana Middleton Joins Callum Turner In Apple TV+ Series
(June 28)

https://deadline.com/2024/06/briana-middleton-neuromancer-apple-tv-1235986115/

["'Neuromancer' follows a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case
(Turner) who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes
crime with his partner Molly (Middleton), a razor-girl assassin with
mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold
secrets"]

I am 100% skeptical that they can pull this off. Certainly, "Foundation"
has been hit-and-miss (and, arguably, more "miss").

As I told Robin when she first posted this, I don’t know what a razor girl
is, and doesn’t everybody have mirrored eyes?

A derogatory term for a hired contract killer, especially one with
body modifications like Molly has.  bodyguard, razorgirl, and hit man
for hire, Molly works for Armitage. She has extensively surgically
modified her body. She has razorblades that extend from her nails, a
rewired predator’s nervous system, and lens implants in front of her
eyes, which allow her to see in the dark and provide her with
real-time information about her surroundings.

NFL loses 'Sunday Ticket' trial, ordered to pay $4 billion by federal
jury  (June 27)

https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-loses-sunday-ticket-trial-ordered-to-pay-4-billion-by-federal-jury-225928049.html

Excellent - at this point, nothing would make me happier than to see the
professional sports leagues driven into bankruptcy, and forced to return
to OTA television!

Why? I want sports off my TV altogether.

Hey, if returns to OTA at least you won't have to pay extra for the
sports that you never watch with your cable bill.
>
What will you bet?

I will put a massive $0.01 bet on the NFL returning to OTA and
dropping the Sunday Ticket. Yes, I'm that confident. Of course even if
it did happen it might not happen till a decade or more of court cases
are worked through.

Paramount+ Prices To Rise For Most Tiers Starting In August  (June 24)

The question is what will happen to those of us that get it free because I
won’t pay a dime for it.

Your price will double.

Maggie Grace On Her ‘Lost’ Character’s Exit: “Still The Worst Heartbreak
Of My Career”  (June 26)

https://deadline.com/2024/06/maggie-grace-lost-shannon-exit-1235983429/

Yeah, that I think most would agree that this was a premature character
kill off.

But, then again, in retrospect, "Lost" did a lot of stuff wrong.

Like lying to the audience about what was going on.

That was bad from a viewer perspective but I'll give them credit as it
kept people talking about the show.
>
True, but not favorably.

Oh, I agree, but people kept guessing what the show was about for
years while the show was still on the air.

Jeremy Renner Says He Doesn’t Have “Energy” To Play “Challenging” Roles
After Snow Plow Accident: “I Can’t Just Go Play Make-Believe Right Now”
(June 25)

https://deadline.com/2024/06/jeremy-renner-energy-challenging-roles-snow-plow-accident-1235983221/

Yeah - dude will never be the same, no doubt.

Sad, but bad accidents do happen. The good thing is he's already had a
good career as an action hero so now he can take on more sedate roles.

>
It’s not like Marvel is making action hero movies anymore anyway. Certainly
not with white men.

True, they do seem to have a focus on women now for their action hero
movies. I wonder how that is working out for them.

It's actually not a bad idea if they had good stories/writing and had
some compelling actors. So far they've managed to fail on all
accounts. I thought they had a great concept with MS MARVEL if they
had stuck with the new hero trying to come grips with her powers and
how it changes her life. Then the writers feared they wouldn't get a
second season to tell their story so they rushed the character
development (she went from barely being able to use her powers to
doing all sorts of stunts in just the course of a day or two) and
pushed the story to Pakistan so they could bring up the
Indian/Pakistan history. Oh, and they introduced the coolest character
in the leader of the Red Band only to kill him off shortly after we
met him.

All of which would have been fine if it had played out over a second
season but it was a massive shift in tone and the style of the story
telling (lot's of anime/cartoon scenes in the first three episodes
that kept it light hearted. That disappeared after those episodes.)
