It makes it clear there is no consistent clear answer. Because while
feet may be getting bigger on average that shouldn't change the shoe
sizes. Now the feet getting bigger as we age could be a real issue.
Also the fact that shoe sizes between various manufacturers aren't the
same could be the issue.
fwiw, I had (note past tense) a pair of dress shoes I picked up
about 15 years ago for The Governor's Ball where I was heading
with Brandi Shannon (Mary "WitSec" Shannon's sister). Alas,
that other guy took her instead, so I put the shoes aside hoping
for another opportunity.
About six months ago I took them out of the box and... they
were now two sizes too small. Yeah, my feet had flattened
out and stretched in the interim.
