Yesterday, I went back to trying to get some grading done before Thanksgiving break. So, through most of the day, I had either football or X-Mas flicks on as background noise, and did grading or other things. But I did watch:
football - I don't even remember the morning game - it was teams I didn't care about.
In the afternoon game, the 49ers were obliterated by the Packers - it's amazing to me that, this season, the Chargers are clearly better than the 49ers!
I didn't watch the evening game, but I guess the Eagles thwacked the Rams - I think this puts the Seahawks back in the lead in the NFC West!?!
Tonight (MNF) is the Chargers! (Though against Baltimore, I didn't give them good odds... :( )
soaps: Fri's ep's.
Y&R - Victor discusses Sharon (who was not in this ep.) with Nick and Adam - Adam throws Sharon under the bus! Filis[sic!] wakes up - and sees Lucy, Daniel and Summer all looking down on her! she should have been terrified!! ;p - and promptly lays Chance out (righteous!) for bungling the Heather murder investigation - Filis also remembers that "Sharon" texted her before the accident, luring her to the site of the car crash. Billy and Sally do indeed "do it".
GH - A pretty stale ep. The most interesting thing was probably Jason talking to Dante about the kids - it's looking like everyone is going to live together at the Quartermaines, which I'm guessing will satisfy Alexis. Michael, driven by revenge, tries to turn Curtis against Drew (Michael is actually telling the truth here...). Felicia and Mac meet with their "new" niece, Sasha, and try to put her at ease; at the end, it's revealed that Sasha may be preggers (Michael's baby?!). And I am really hoping Ric kills it at the trial, and gets Ava off - it will be so glorious if he wins this case and puts everyone else in their place! (Hopefully getting Molly to turn on Kristina again!) - The trial will be this week on the show.
I also left some X-Mas movies on in the background:
I was just noticing this year I don't really have any explicit Christmas movies lined up to watch. I had been looking forward to watching "Lethal Weapon" as my Christmas movie (like Die Hard it takes place during Christmas). But I just found out the other day they are supposed to be coming out with a 4K upgrade next year so I pulled it from the watch list and haven't found anything to replace it with yet. I still may watch an actual Christmas movie or two this year.
A Little Women's Christmas (GAFfe channel) - Obviously, muted and in the background, I didn't get the full feel for this. But it didn't look very good (how is Beth not dead, or dying?!?!!). And Jillian Murray does not look good with blond highlights, and Jen Lilley looks older now... :(
To Have and to Holiday (Hallmark) - Also, muted and on in the background. Madeleine Arthur looks like a movie star from the 1920s and 1930s - I really enjoy her "throwback" looks. But Eric Close is another one who looks so old now! :( Anyway, this was some malarkey with Close as a pastor father to Arthur - she wants to marry some fellow Christmas nerd, and Close apparently doesn't want his daughter to get married but reluctantly agrees to officiate their wedding anyway. Meh...
What did you watch?
I watched:
Rocketman (4K disc) 2019 musical about the life of Elton John (Taron Egerton). I remember when I went to see this in the theater I didn't have high expectations and I ended up liking it a lot. It still holds up very well.
Bohemian Rhapsody (4K disc) 2018 musical about the rock group Queen. It's OK, but not as good as I was expecting when the first time I saw it. It's OK, but not great. An interesting bit of trivia is Bryan Singer is credited as director, but famously had issues during filming and was replaced for the end of filming with Dexter Fletcher who also directed Rocketman.
Purple Rain (4K disc) 1984 musical starring Prince as Prince, I mean "The Kid." I saw this at the drive in when the movie first came out and at the time I didn't really get the movie. But over the years, I've grown to really appreciate it. And this new 4K transfer looks great.
Cruel Intentions (Amazon Prime) "Delta" and "Epsilon" - Episodes 4 and 5 - Mostly background noise. I forgot if they destroyed someone's life just because they could or not.
Dune: Prophecy - "Two Wolves" - Episode 2. I can see now this is going to be a hard show to recap week to week; and the potential spoiler situation is going to be a nightmare. So consider this a spoiler warning. But basically, picking up from where things left off last week, the Duke(?) is threatening the emperor over the death of his son. The Bene Gesserit reverend mother personally goes to investigate the death of not only the boy, but another sister who was simultaneously murdered in the same way light years away. That type of technology *should* not exist! Travis Fimmel (who I swear is the same character from "Raised By Wolves!") offers to help the emperor deal with his new enemies. And he has the powers or technology or whatever you want to call it, to do it. This leads to a very unexpected confrontation between Fimmel and the Reverend Mother.
