 Fallon was trying to paint the director as an attention-seeker, trying to
insert himself into the limelight rather doing his job properly. See my post
to Ian as to why this is bullshit.
 

Thanks for both of your replies. I had a suspicion that Fallon was trying something like that but thought maybe I was being too cynical.
