Fetterman joined the cohosts of the midday talk show on Thursday, and the
discussion turned to President Joe Biden's Thanksgiving weekend pardon of his
embattled son, Hunter Biden. Fetterman also claimed that the case against
Hunter Biden-- which was brought by a special prosecutor and President
Biden's Justice Department-- was politically motivated, arguing that pardons
would be reasonable in both cases.
This is what confuses me when these Democrats say Biden's prosecution was
political. It was his daddy's DOJ-- under a Democrat administration-- that
prosecuted him. How is that politically motivated?
"So, Senator, President Biden's decision to pardon his son Hunter is facing
bipartisan backlash. Even the Democrats are all over it. But what do you
think?" host Joy Behar asked, attempting to downplay the pardon. "Is this
much ado about nothing? It is his son, after all, and people do have sympathy
for that, but a lot of people are angry with him about that. What do you
say?"
"I think it’s undeniable that the case against Hunter Biden was really
politically motivated but I also think it's true that the trial in New York
for Trump, that was political as well too," Fetterman replied. "In both
cases, I think a pardon is appropriate. And I really think collectively
America's confidence in these kinds of institutions have been damaged by
these kinds of cases."
In Trump's case, however, the only person that could pardon him would be the
Governor of New York and that ain't gonna happen.
Although I suppose Biden or Trump himself could pardon Trump for the federal
crime that the NYC district attorney used to bypass the statute of limitations
on the state charges and which boosted the crime to felony level. Without that
the prosecution couldn't even have been brought in the first place and would
be mooted.
